ASTMH is the acronym for the American Society for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, a leading organization attracting thousands of scientists, policymakers, and students to its annual meeting. This year, the meeting will be held November 18–22 near Washington, DC (National Harbor). RAM-Global Rotary Action Group will be hosting an exciting symposium, as well as a booth.

If you attend, we invite you to experience a unique ASTMH event: join a participatory workshop and discover how communities overcome specific health delivery challenges around the world. We will take you through a journey of problem-solving strategies and storytelling to learn how true community engagement and dialogue can reach the unreached, adapt and improve the delivery of health strategies, improve efficiencies, and leverage resources in the fight against malaria.

Bottom-up, community-led approaches to disease control are often discussed, yet global health strategies continue to be invented, designed, and implemented in a top-down manner. At a time when global health financing and support for multilateral organizations are decreasing, and climate change is wreaking havoc on vulnerable populations, more sustainable, resilient, and financially independent strategies are needed to maintain and improve the health of communities around the world.

If you are able to join this special event, we believe it will be a beneficial experience that you can share after the meeting. Based on the initial schedule, the RAM-Global sponsored breakfast symposium will be held Friday, November 20, beginning at 7:00 a.m. at Gaylord Convention Center, National Harbor.
